The trial of the eight defendants in the case of Carmenes de Mar has been suspended yet again, this time due to the failure of the court video recording system. The opening session of the trial was due to take place yesterday, January 7th, in the Granada law courts, having been previously suspended last October. More than 50 witnesses, technical experts and defendants had been called to attend, as well as a dozen or so lawyers. Under existing court rules every court session must be recorded, but a fault in the recording system made that impossiible and the judge was obliged to cancel the session. Four calls were made to the Junta de Andalucia IT services personnel, in which the very high priority of the case was emphasised, but no reply, neither positive nor negative, was forthcoming.
